Villa Cetinale: Memoir of a House in Tuscany

$75.00

Publisher: Rizzoli

Measurements: 9.75 x 0.92 x 11.27 inches

Format: Hardcover

Condition: New

Nestled just outside Siena, Italy, Villa Cetinale has vineyards, shimmering olive groves, and wooded hills that have kept their pristine beauty since the late seventeenth century. It was during this time that Cardinal Flavio Chigi, a nephew of Pope Alexander VII, transformed a modest farmhouse into this magnificent villa.

In 1978, Cetinale passed from the hands of the Chigi dynasty into those of the charismatic Lord Antony Lambton, the author's father. Under his stewardship, the villa's renown flourished, as he embellished it with new gardens and played host to many guests from England, including Princess Margaret, Prince Charles, Mick Jagger, Rupert Everett, Tony Blair, and Kate Moss.

While the villa has undergone significant restoration, every effort has been made to preserve its original charm and character. Bolko von Schweinichen, a renowned Florentine architect celebrated for his respectful treatment of historic structures, oversaw the restoration work, while the interiors were entrusted to London decorator Camilla Guinness, a lifelong friend of the Lambton family.
